Letter : Mexico City, to James Negus, New Orleans, 1848 Mar 18.

ALS in which General Patterson responds to news of Negus's family and mutual friends; discusses an unnamed Louisiana commercial business in which he and Negus are involved; notes that he is waiting for the result of the Mexican War treaty and says it is generally believed that it will bring peace; and comments on an excursion escorted by two companies of officers during which he viewed the falls at Regla, and went down a silver mine in the Pachuca-Real Del Monte area of Hidalgo County. The letter is addressed to James Negus, care of Messrs. Hill McLean and Co., New Orleans, and has a postmark reading "Vera Cruz Mexico April 8."
